Market Analysis
Currently, majority of Somali consumers of electricity is sourced from private grid operators using grids powered by diesel generators. The electrical power supplied under these primitive conditions are inefficient and costly. It is estimated that the cost per kilowatt/hour ranges between $0.45 – $2 dollars – which is one of the highest rates in the world. As a result – this cost is often unaffordable as well as unsustainable for many homeowners and businesses relying on such energy to grow or even run effectively. Even more so, creates hardships from those who come from underprivileged backgrounds and rural areas as these costs may be impossible to maintain. As a consequence, they resort to using sources of energy that are not only detrimental to the environment, but may contain substances that are proven to cause health concerns. The Solar Panel Installation, Repair and Maintenance industry has galloped ahead in recent years as a result of the rapid technological developments in our world, falling solar panel costs as well as favorable NGO recommendations and government policy.
